HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 117
(By Delegates Pino, Louisos and Perry)
Requesting the Division of Highways to name the bridge at the
intersection of U.S. 19 and Summerlee Road in Oak Hill,
Fayette County, the "Veterans of All Wars Bridge."
Whereas, In the modern era, Fayette County veterans have fought
with gallantry and distinction in WWI, WWII and the Korean, Vietnam
and Iraq Conflicts; and
Whereas, Fayette County veterans have served honorably in the
United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard,
answering our nation's call to repel tyranny and aggression
throughout the world; and
Whereas, Fayette County veterans have proudly done their part
to protect our country's freedoms and preserve our country's
democratic way of life for future generations; and
Whereas, Fayette County veterans have placed themselves in
harm's way while defending our country, and many have made the
ultimate sacrifice - giving what Abraham Lincoln called "the last
full measure of devotion"; and
Whereas, A tremendous debt of gratitude is owed to Fayette
County veterans who have bravely served our nation in time of war, and it is only fitting that their selfless heroism be honored and
remembered; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
to name the bridge at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Summerlee
Road in Oak Hill, Fayette County, the "Veterans of All Wars
Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is requested
to place signs identifying the bridge as the "Veterans of All Wars
Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is
hereby requested to prepare a certified copy of this resolution for
the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and the Director of
the Division of Veterans' Affairs.
